From a traveling embalmer serving St. Louis funeral homes to a broad professional mortuary operation, Lonning has been built around dependable service and relationships.
Lonning Mortuary Service began in the 1980s when Robert “Bob” Lonning built a reputation as a traveling embalmer serving funeral homes throughout the St. Louis area. As demand grew, Bob established a dedicated facility and expanded the company into a full-service mortuary support operation. His wife, Karen, joined him in helping the business grow and serve an increasingly broad network of funeral professionals.
After more than 40 years, Bob and Karen chose to slow down and transition Lonning Mortuary Service to Mark Hutchens, a third-generation St. Louis funeral director. Mark is committed to preserving the professionalism, dependability and personal relationships that built Lonning’s reputation while continuing to invest in the people, equipment, facilities and systems needed to serve today’s funeral homes and institutional partners.
The goal is not to change what made Lonning trusted. It is to build on it.
